Application advantages of online soft starter
In recent years, online soft starters are often encountered in the market, so what is the difference between online soft starters and ordinary bypass soft starters? Only by knowing the difference can we know which is better.

Online soft starter means that there is no bypass and no need to switch the bypass after the start of the soft starter. The main circuit thyristor is always running online, so it is called an online soft starter.

Under normal circumstances, the motor will be thrown to the bypass contactor after the soft starter starts, and the contactor is connected in parallel with the three-phase input and output lines of the soft starter. That is to say, after the start is completed, the load motor is directly connected to the three-phase power supply through the contactor.

From the installation point of view, the online soft starter has one less contactor, and the primary and secondary lines are simpler, especially for the starting cabinet with high power, the online type is more cost-effective. The bypass soft starter does not have these advantages. But after all, the thyristor of the online soft starter works all the time, and the bypass soft starter only works at the moment of starting, and the bypass contactor runs after the start is completed. Therefore, the bypass soft starter has no effect on the thyristor. It is better, and the thyristor is the core execution device of the soft starter. If the thyristor is broken, the maintenance cost of the soft starter is not low.

Generally, heavy loads such as ball mills, crushers, deep well pumps, etc., will use bypass soft starters for frequent starts, otherwise, use online soft starters, such as fire pumps.
